Places to find comfort
“I originally left the UK in 2012 with a short-term plan to explore and develop my art process but as with all good plans things change. After a couple of years decided to stay in Barcelona and set up my art business (I also married my Spanish husband so that may have swayed me!)
Living in another country was very challenging for me as I’m not a native Spanish speaker and being a sensitive, creative type, I only open up socially when I feel *really* comfortable.
That didn’t happen. So I began to look for alternative ways to explore and express that feeling of comfort through art.
The concept of creating ease and comfort is actually fundamental to most healing modalities. We heal when we relax. It’s a natural response.
“Tea-Time” - Abstract Painting | “…Tea = warmth, comfort, union, togetherness, wherever you find yourself in the world.” See the full size painting here.
The process of art-making for me is also incredibly freeing and relaxing. Abstract painting requires nothing of you but to turn up with a completely open mind and be willing to respond to whatever wants to flow through you.
There’s no place for judgement, criticism, doubt or fear.
This is literally the definition of intuitive and mindful living.
The essence of being human without all the day to day crap our brain’s have picked up and relentlessly obsess over.
Each painting represents the many different moments of comfort I connect with when I want to feel less alone.
Each colour intuitively chosen to anchor that intangible togetherness we feel when we’re fully seen and heard at soul level.
These colourful canvases are a reminder of the connection we have to each other and the world around us.
A connection that is always within us, if not forgotten from time to time.
